About our website and services

Our website generally attracts two kinds of audiences: Consumers and Businesses. The consumers (Users) are people who plan to move and want to get free quotes, free price indications and free advice based on their relocation journey. Our website also collects user reviews in order to help other users make their choice when moving abroad. The businesses (Partners) are moving companies or service partners interested in offering their services in a specific geographic area.

Users may request a free quote, get a free price indication, read reviews, compare prices and services, and eventually choose which company to work with. This is a free service and there is no obligation to purchase.

All our Selected Partners listed on our website must be a member of a national and/or international moving association and have a legal contract in place before they are eligible to be visible on the website.
ReloAdvisor B.V. may conduct remarketing/retargeting services to previous visitors of our website with advertisements on third party websites (including, but not limited to, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, or other social media and online or offline marketing channels). This may also include advertising to previous visitors who have not completed a task on our site. Please note that third-party companies have their own Privacy Policies and Cookies Policy which are not the same as ReloAdvisor, therefore we suggest reading the Privacy Policies carefully from other Partners and third parties.

How do we receive personal data?

In order to provide our services, we need to collect relevant data from Users and Partners. The data is collected by filling in a form on one of the websites powered by ReloAdvisor B.V., or an affiliated Partner website that hosts our form.

Below you can find a list of the information that may be processed and stored in order to provide you with the services required:

  • Full name (first name and surname);
  • Telephone number;
  • Email address;
  • Address of origin and destination;
  • Details of items to be moved;
  • Geographical location (based on IP address);
  • Additional relevant information Users and Partners deliver to us in order to provide the required services to Partners and Users.

Why do we process personal data?

ReloAdvisor processes the personal data that we receive in order to provide a service that connects Users with the right Partners and to help Users select the best option and help Partners find the perfect audience for their services and products.

More specifically, we process your data in the following ways:

  • We may contact you by email, telephone, or another digital communication channel to verify your information in order to provide the services requested in the best format;
  • We will share your data to selected Partners who are able to provide you with a free quote including their prices and services in order to let you compare moving companies. Partners may contact you directly by email, telephone, SMS, post, or another digital communication channel.
  • We publish Reviews and therefore ask all our Users about their experiences with the selected Partners or other related companies. This helps other Users to make the best choice when comparing Partners or other companies.
  • We may email you about similar products and/or services at origin and destination to present all options when choosing a moving company. This service is only available if you have opted for it on the form.

Disclosure

Sharing data

ReloAdvisor may provide your personal data to third parties for specific reasons. If we distribute your personal data as a data-controller, the disclosures are limited to organisations we trust, that are vital to run our business and that we have entered into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with.
ReloAdvisor uses the services of the following IT-companies for data storage, security and e-mail: WEM, Microsoft, Auth0, Mandrill, Floow, Reedge, RedSky and Postmark.

ReloAdvisor can also share your personal data with companies within our internal corporate structure, in order to analyse the usage of the technology or to make improvements and decisions on the future application or technology.

Lastly, your data can be shared with third parties if we are obligated to provide them in order to comply with a legitimate order given by a national authority, a court order, a subpoena or fiscal and/or legal obligations, accountancy reasons, a change in corporate structure such as a fusion or an expansion, or if ReloAdvisor must take legal action.

Transfer and Storage of data

Transfer of data

Due to the nature of our service, we may share your data with related third parties, providers and or Partners. For example, if a family plans to relocate from the Netherlands to the USA, we can offer services that may be needed at the final destination. In some countries there is an adequate level of data security, like for example in the USA, Australia, and Canada, but unfortunately in other countries there is not the same level of legal protection as countries in the EEA (European Economic Area). If we do transfer your data to other countries, we will always take serious steps to ensure that your data is protected to the same levels that apply in the EEA.

Storage of data

ReloAdvisor keeps your data for as long as it is necessary to offer you and the Partners with accurate services.

Overview of data storage:

Personal data is saved for up to 5 years. We have determined the length of this period based on our experience within the relocation industry and the behaviour of expats that use the services of our associated companies. After this period, your data is anonymized and held only as a statistic for company records.

If your account contains invoice information or other financial details subject to laws obligating ReloAdvisor or Partners to keep them properly administered, the personal data will be saved for up to 7 years.

Communications between Partners and Users is saved for up to 5 years, in line with your regular account details. Deleting your account may affect these communications.

Communications regarding privacy requests or other special User service requests are kept for a period of up to 7 years.

If Partners end their cooperation with ReloAdvisor and the invoicing obligations are no longer relevant, then ReloAdvisor will notify you about your personal data, in order to give you the choice to keep your account with us, or remove your account and the personal data attached to it.
